1Malaysia weekend getaway part 1

We have been planning for a weekend getaway to Penang with my KMPP buddies. We travelled there with Ling's viva. Stop at the 1st station which is Ipoh town at about 630am. We have been looking forward to try the Fu San Dimsum which have been heard from everyone for quite some time.

some random dimsum we tried
the famous dimsum shop in IPOH
My comment toward the dimsum is, the food is fresh HOWEVER, it does not taste nice at all. I am not a picky consumer. But the dimsum is just not my cup of tea =) I didn wanna write bad about it to avoid me from being sue but another comment is, if you did read my blog.. The worker is so damn rude. though probably all the workers everywhere is rude. but this is extra rude i found. So, improve if you want to..
Meet up with Chew and visited to Kelly's Castle.

Kelly's Castle
ling, me and tze tzin (kmpp buddies)
I have not visited Kelly's Castle though it is one of the places of attraction in Malaysia. So, we departed and have a look there. Spend some time and walk around the castle. Well, the castle is a castle built by some rich merchant from oversea. Mean ah-mo la.. then he die before the castle is completed. After he die, the wife did not continue with the castle and it was left emptied. He is rich as it was supposed to be 6 stories tall but the building is halfway stop at the 3rd stories.

Journey to the West
Then we stop by at one of the famous temple in Ipoh. Nothing much, just to delay some time to eat Chicken rice.. But still at the end, we did not eat cause the dimsum really irritating. I kinda just lost appetite to eat anything =P

rojak buah @ bigtree, Ipoh
Because of the lost of appetite, we went and have a drink and rojak buah instead.. Nice.. hehe..

the queue to soyabean stall
famous soyabean @ Ipoh
We were introduce by a local to try the soyabean. The queue is there, both human and cars. So we packed 3 packets. Guess that is not a wise choice. we should have taken that on the spot. Then, we travelled to Parit Buntar to picked Siao Hui. Then off we depart to Penang looking a room to stay (I know, we went without planning.. that is just so not me rite? I guess all i can say is, I am tired )
tunes hotel, penang
Thanks to the help of one of my friend in Penang, we booked rooms at Tunes Hotel. Check in and unload our luggage and off we go for lunch. Praying that we will have great meal in penang after the nightmare dimsum in Ipoh =P

big prawn 'char kuey tiao'
Just opposite the hotel, there is this lorong selamat. We are saved as there is various of stall there and it is pretty much recommend in the magazine and leaflet. (thanks to Ken for all the leaflet he provided to us as it has been such a useful kit for us to explore Penang) We have choose The sisters fried kuey tiao at one of the stall (highly recommended by Ling's boss). Mayb we are hungry or mayb the dimsum effect, the fried keuy tiao is awesome =) thumb up for it.. haha.. but it is RM7/plate.
After the satisfying lunch+teabreak, we went back to the hotel, bath and take a rest before dinner. We have make plans with Ken, Hui Li and also Kai Li =)

"oh jian"=oyster fried eggs
Introduce by tze tzin, there is a nice "ketam bakar" in Tanjung Tokong. Too bad when we were there, the ketam bakar finish dy. so instead we tried the oyster fried and also the udang bakar. The udang bakar got some kind of weird smell. but they say not bad lar.. they said.. haha... but the fried oyster is awesome.. this is Chyeli say de =)

the chee cheong fun with prawn sos
Then because only eat this 2 dishes, where got full wor.. so we go and have something else lor.. Go to one of the hawker stall in Pulau Tikus. If u ask me bring you go there again, i wont know how to go there.. haha.. but the 'chee cheong fun' is famous de.. and so coincident i ask for 'chee cheong fun' too.. problem is, the 'chee cheong fun' in penang is not like the 'chee cheong fun' in kl.. their 'chee cheong fun' use 'prawn sos' de.. it is sticky and erm, the 1st bite is not bad.. 2nd, is ok.. 3rd bite still ok.. 5th bite, a bit jelak dy.. haha.. it is just not my type =P

that is the end of the 1st day =) the journey is to be continue....
