Melbourne Trip: Great Ocean Road

Date: 14.06.2011
Visited Place: Great Ocean Road

This is one of the places of interest that i really have to sacrifise in order to visit. It is a long hours bus ride and all we do is to go there and look at the sea and few rocks. Haha. Not to say i do not like it, but i wouldn say i enjoyed it as much as the rest. No wonder my sis keep telling me that i am taking picture with all the trees and water and woods. This is what she mean.
Anyway, i stayed at Boxhill the night before in order to go to the Great Ocean Road tour. We did not drive to Great Ocean Road as it is a long trip and tiring. We kinda join a one day tour to visit the Great Ocean Road. We selected the TravelGreen Agency i think. The tour package is AUD68 and it include nothing except for the bus ride to the Great Ocean Road. The tour will be conducted in chinese and therefore according to my friend, it will be cheaper.
Anyway, we gather at one of the pickup point at 7am. The bus pick us up and we head to the city to pick the rest of the passenger and then we are on the road. Well, i have -ve impression toward this tour guide and i think his name is Richard i think or something like that.
The journey is winding and poor chyeli is perfectly well-know as easy car-sick person. So, instead of enjoyinh the scenery along the road to the Great Ocean Road, I try to sleep as much as i can in order to avoid puking. I didn wan the nausea to spoilt my whole day trip. I will only open my eye when i need to get off the bus to really enjoy the scenery and to take picture.

Great Ocean Road, here i am..
hotels on the cliff
Along the way to Great Ocean Road, at the cliff, they build lots hotel. And according to the tour guide, one night cost you around AUD400. Let me earn a little money and then mayb in the future i will come back for a stay =) what i like is the apartment is all build with glasses covering the whole house. It is nice to have such fragile and beautiful house. Of course, if it is our house, then we would not be able to hide from the public and it is too expose. The reason with the glass house in Great Ocean Road is definitely the view. The dine with such a great view. What a life rite?

1st stop: 12th Apostles
no matter how many times i count, i cant get 12th Apostles

me with the other 2 apostles
The 1st stop for the Great Ocean Road is the 12th Apostles. well, i forget what is the story for this 12th Apostles. But it was suppose to have 12 stones standing along the beach. No matter how i count, it only have 7. i did not know where the other 5 apostles went =P Beside walking along to enjoy the view. They offer helicopter ride too. It is about AUD70 or AUD80 i think. I was considering cause i think the price is pretty reasonable and I had not have a helicopter ride before. But what i concern is the view might not be that breath-taking or it might not surprise me? therefore i did not go for it. I think my 1st time i will give it to Afrika? I remember watching the cantonese drama on the volunteered doctor in Africa. The view is magnificient even from the video, so i bet that the view is going to surprise me if i see it from Africa.

2nd stop: i dun remember
i know this is where the ship wreck and the cave is where a girl and a boy stayed to survive
I really do not remember what is this station called. I just remember that a ship wreck here and a boy and girl manage to survive and they stayed close to each other in order to survive in a cave nearby. I do not know why this become a tourist attraction but from the tour guide, he mention that both survival family will visit yearly on the accident anniversary to pay their respect to the boy and girl. Then he joke that it is an excuse to have a weekend getaway from busy lifestyle. Which i doubt his story anyway.
3rd stop: London Bridge
Final stop is the london bridge station. But is is also called the broken bridge. Well, this is not really attractive to me. Probably i would love the 2nd station more as i can get closer to the water and sand and the view is breathtaking like the rest too.

Well, i would not return again to Great Ocean Road i think. I dun find it deserving to sit on the long hours ride just to see few stones. Plus i am a carsick person. Beside, another reason i am not enjoying might be due to the tour guide. This tour guide is seriously not a good one. He did not equipped himself with sufficient knowledge and he did not giv his best service. I somehow understand why people will discriminate asian there in Melbourne. That is seriously because there are such people living there and give them a bad impression. Anyway, to eliminate this tour guide from the consideration, i think it is enough to visit just once to see what it is all about. Wont be the second time =) Guess i wont have the chance to visit Tasmania as it is basically road trip tour. And according to my friend, it is lots windier than the road heading to Great Ocean Road. Guess it is a goodbye to Tasmania..
Middle East Meal: Kebab
We reach Boxhill super late that night. Ended we have kebab for dinner. Well, naive de me didn know kebab can serve with rice. The above is call kebab and i remember the kebab in malaysia is actually a wrap with slices of meats and vege. Interesting new dish i tried there =)
